It's Winter in the Boone Area...

the Peak of Ski Season is Here!

Massive snowmaking at High Country slopes is making the most of cold nights in the Boone Area. Now is the time to ski or snowboard at the height of winter in the High Country.

Escape for Valentine's Day! Explore a Romantic Mountain Weekend in the Boone Area.

The High Country is so close—with the East’s highest peaks and ski areas, greatest vertical drops, deepest natural snow, and some of the South’s longest runs. Check out Boone Area lodging.

Appalachian Ski Mountain (celebrating a half-century in 2012!), Beech Mountain Resort, and Sugar Mountain Resort are the biggest ski resort cluster in the Mid-Atlantic and South. They total 240 acres of ski terrain—comparable to Snowshoe in West Virginia.

Don't ski?

No problem! Try ice skating or tubing—all three High Country ski resorts have ice rinks and tube runs. And Hawksnest Resort is a huge snow tubing center (plus one of the longest zipline courses in the East).

High Country attractions are open all winter. Try Grandfather Mountain and Linville Caverns. Winter Blue Ridge Parkway vistas seem endless. Or shop for distinctive gifts at one-of-a-kind Boone Area galleries and specialty shops. Browse the Boone Area Buyer's Guide.
