A River Runs Through It—the Boone Area, that Is!

There is no hotter outdoor sport than flyfishing. It can be strenuous—or just scenic and sophisticated. Either way, finesse counts for more than muscle.

The Boone Area's miles of scenic, pristine rivers and streams are a magnet for experienced and novice anglers in search of trout and other species.  Known for rushing streams, the Boone area is also home to scenic lakes, including spectacular options on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

A wealth of professional Boone Area outfitters can guide you to best-kept secret spots for a memorable day of casting from shore, wading in the rapids, or floating with the flow. Want more than luck to ensure a great catch? Local trout farms are a fun way to guarantee a fresh mountain trout dinner back at your condo, cabin, or campsite. They have equipment on hand and will gladly prepare your catch.
